Young family enjoys perks of city living at Tivoli Gardens

August 13, 2011

Thirty-year-old Carlo Contis, a senior manager at a leading BPO firm, is a self-confessed “Mandaluyong boy.” Having grown up within the vibrant city with his family since 1984, Carlo is used to the convenience of its location in the middle of the metro, along with other urban comforts that Mandaluyong offers. It is also located near his Makati office, so commuting and driving to and from his place of work is an ideal advantage to his urban lifestyle.

So when the time came for him to look for a first home for his own family, it was important to get an address within the city where he grew up in. Going around Mandaluyong one day, he chanced upon a project called Tivoli Gardens Residences that was being developed by DMCI Homes.

“Me and my wife Rosali were looking for a place within a familiar environment where we could raise our family. That was around four years ago, and a year into our marriage when I first drove by Tivoli Gardens, which was just in its early development stage. It is something positive for us since in a monetary perspective, medyo kaya ng bulsa with its pre-selling price,” Carlo related.

He also noted that they were lucky to get a 3-bedroom unit with gross floor area of 79.0 sqm that was right next to the elevators and across the central landscaped atrium. A few steps away also beckoned the Sky Patio – Tivoli Gardens’ signature 3-storey high openings on the building that allowed the maximum entry of light and air through the Lumiventt technology.

While waiting for the construction of their first home in the development’s second building, Eugenia, the young couple rented a condo in Pasay in the interim. The small space and unfamiliar environment made Carlo more convinced that he preferred to raise his young family in the residential resort-like setting offered by Tivoli Gardens in Mandaluyong City.

“I visited the site a lot to monitor the construction. And during instances when I couldn’t, I just logged on to the DMCI Homes website to check the progress reports. That was very convenient for us, and made us all more excited to see the community gradually taking shape,” he noted.

Finally in March last year, they were given a call by DMCI Homes informing them that their unit was ready for turnover. That was a pleasant surprise for the couple, since they were not expecting the building completion until the fourth quarter of 2010. The young family, by then joined by four-year-old daughter Zaira, was very excited to move in ahead of schedule, and enjoy the perks of their first home. The Contis family was one of the first residents to move in at Eugenia.

“It was better than I expected it to be, seeing the impressive amenities and the growing community, with kids swimming in the pool, and other exciting happenings in the Sky Lounge. My daughter is obsessed with the pool; she swims at least four times a week. My wife and I also get to use the gym a lot. We’re also not worried about inviting friends over, which is a little often, because we have the confidence to show them around from the ground level, our unit, and the Sky Lounge,” Carlo added.

There was also very little to add to the turned-over unit, which was already furnished with quality finishes and fixtures. Using minimal furnishings and simple décor, Carlo said they invested more on kitchen furniture since Rosali loves to cook. Zaira’s room was also spruced up to become a little girl’s happy place. And even with a little bundle of joy coming soon, the family is still confident of having enough space for their growing brood.

Their “family” also extends outside the confines of their unit, with friendly neighbors and the emerging community showing lots of camaraderie towards each other. This may have a lot to do with the generally welcoming environment both inside and outside the residential towers courtesy of the modern tropical design of common areas and lush landscaping. With the ideal weather 24/7 provided by the unique Lumiventt Design technology, everyone seems to be in high spirits as high-rise condo dwellers.

“I guess people have impression that when you talk about condo living, there are a lot of constraints, like it’s hard to breathe or walk around, but our visitors get really impressed to see how spacious Tivoli Gardens is. We also have very good ventilation because of the Sky Patios, and the sight of the greens when I look outside my unit is really refreshing,” Carlo noted.

“We are enjoying very livable conditions here, which I don’t think I could find elsewhere. I get to the office in 15 minutes without traffic, my daughter gets to play and run around a lot even inside the building, my wife and I enjoy hosting friends over, and the community is really getting along well. Getting our first home was really worth the wait.” Carlo ended.
